    Because many of us have never really learned how to take good care of ourselves, our relationships have been based on trying to get someone else to take care of us. In the past, we may have tried to use falling in love to fill up an empty space within us. We are now finding that being alive is a love affair with the universe. Life is a love affair between our inner male and female, between our form and our spirit.

    I often imagine my male standing behind my female — supporting, protecting, backing her up. For a man, the image might be reversed. You might see your female as within or behind you — guiding, empowering, nurturing, and supporting you. When male and female energies are in harmony and working together, it is an incredible feeling.     Get in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and relax your body. Now bring to your mind an image that represents your inner female. Take a look at your female and get a sense or a feeling of what she represents to you. Ask her if she has anything she would like to say to you and/or ask her any questions you may have. Once you have allowed yourself to receive her communication, take a deep breath and release her from your mind. Come back to a quiet, still place. Do the same process with the male. Then ask for the images of both male and female to come to you. See how they relate to one another. Ask them if they have anything they would like to communicate to each other or to you. Then once again take a deep breath and release these images from your mind. Come back to a still, quiet place.

    Find a comfortable position, close your eyes, and relax your body. Now, bring to mind an image that represents your inner feminine self. Take a moment to observe this feminine aspect and sense what she represents to you. Ask her if she has anything to share with you and feel free to ask her any questions you may have. Once you have received her communication, take a deep breath and gently release this image from your mind. Return to a quiet, still place.

    Next, repeat the same process with the masculine aspect of yourself. Afterward, invite both the male and female images to come to you. Observe how they relate to one another. Ask them if they have any messages for each other or for you. Once again, take a deep breath and release these images from your mind. Return to a calm, still place.

    Men will reflect her shift

    Finding our wholeness

    In the past men have desperately needed women to provide them with the nurturing, intuitive, and emotional support they need, and women have been dependent on men to take care of them and provide for them in the physical world. It seems like a perfect arrangement, except for one problem. When you don’t feel whole, as an individual, when you feel your survival depends on others, you are constantly afraid of losing them.

    We have been struggling with these “old male” and “old female” roles for many generations. So it is wonderful that we are beginning to discover that each of us has all the qualities within to be whole.
