    It has been my experience that many of us need help in the form of supportive therapy or counseling to deal with deep levels of emotional healing. For some of us, there is a certain reluctance to seek help, perhaps because we fear it is an indication of weakness, sickness, or craziness. Personally, I have sought therapy of various types at many times in my life and it has helped me greatly as long as I trusted my own intuition about who to work with, when to stop, and so on. We give ourselves a great gift when we ask for help.

    Change old patterns

    Take a good look at how external problems reflect your inner process. If you learn from your experiences and grow, your relationships will grow also.

    A lot of these problems can be worked through by deeply and sincerely sharing your feelings, learning to take care of yourself, and by encouraging others to do the same. You may want to get support from a professional counselor or therapist to help you, or even your whole family, change old patterns.

    I often imagine my male standing behind my female — supporting, protecting, backing her up. For a man, the image might be reversed. You might see your female as within or behind you — guiding, empowering, nurturing, and supporting you. When male and female energies are in harmony and working together, it is an incredible feeling. One becomes a strong, open, creative channel with power, wisdom, peace, and love flowing through.

    Men will reflect her shift

    Once a woman begins to trust and love herself more and starts to use her internal male energy to support herself, the behavior of men in her life will reflect that shift. They will either change dramatically and continue to change as she does, or they will disappear from her life to be replaced by men who are supportive and appreciative of her, mirroring her new attitude toward herself. I have seen this happen over and over again.

    When a woman starts to embrace and appreciate herself more, tapping into her internal masculine energy for support, the actions of the men around her will mirror that transformation.     The male in women

    Both the old male (macho) and the old female (submissive) exist in each sex. A woman who feels caught in the traditional female role has a controlling, macho old male inside of her, suppressing her. She will tend to attract men who mirror this male personality and will reflect it in their behavior toward her. This behavior may range from paternalistic and chauvinistic to verbally or physically abusive, depending on how the woman treats herself and what she believes she deserves.     Finding our wholeness

    In the past men have desperately needed women to provide them with the nurturing, intuitive, and emotional support they need, and women have been dependent on men to take care of them and provide for them in the physical world. It seems like a perfect arrangement, except for one problem. When you don’t feel whole, as an individual, when you feel your survival depends on others, you are constantly afraid of losing them.

    We have been struggling with these “old male” and “old female” roles for many generations. So it is wonderful that we are beginning to discover that each of us has all the qualities within to be whole.
